Meeting Summary

Feb. 12, 2007

Homeowners Association Meeting

Sunset Trail

Eighteen oak trees that the Murano developer planted on Islesworth property along Sunset Trail have been re-planted in other locations within our neighborhood, including around Islesworth Circle.

Starting Feb. 13, a 6-foot-tall fence will be constructed behind the homes on Captiva Court that back onto Sunset Trail. The fence will incorporate about 8 feet of landscape buffer area at the back of each homeowner's yard.

The fence contractor, Treasure Coast Fence, will extend each homeowner's individual side fences to meet the new Islesworth fence in the back. The affected residents have been notified by mail about the fence construction

Upon completion of the fencing project, areca palms will be planted that will provide a further sound and visual buffer from Sunset Trail.

During the meeting, Board President Dennis Rohan explained that the Murano work had left these homeowners exposed. Eighty percent of the rest of the community has a fence or wall to buffer them, so the board wanted to bring that sort of protection to the Captiva/Sunset residents too.

As for the incorporation of "open space" or "common ground" into people's yards, Mr. Rohan explained that this was was not a unique situation in Islesworth. Many other lots have open space incorporated in their property that homeowners maintain as their own (i.e., mowing, irrigating, etc.).

Other landscaping

The board approved a proposal from Kicking Grass to plant 32 areca palms and place 60 bags of red mulch in Open Tract 7, which borders Lots 73, 74, 85 and 86.

School Buffer

Regarding the boundary with Hidden Oaks Middle School, the Martin County School Board still has not responded to the landscaping proposal presented by Islesworth.

A school district contractor had torn out the landscape buffer when re-doing the fence. He said the trees on Islesworth property were in the way, so he told the crew to tear them out.

The Islesworth board will continue to pursue compensation from the county.

Violations

Eleven residents are behind in paying their fees, amounting to $2,622 that has not been received by Islesworth. Several will be contacted by the Islesworth attorney regarding payment.

Residents are reminded that if they put out large items as garbage that they should call Waste Management to arrange for a special pickup. Nichols Sanitation: 546-7700 or (800) 824-8472.

Residents also must not park their vehicles so that they block the mail boxes or driveways of other residents. The blocking of a resident's mailbox recently caused problems that snowballed when some mail was not delivered because of another resident's truck obstructing the mailbox. Islesworth is considered a rural delivery area and Postal Service policies do not require the carrier to get out of the mail truck to get to the mailbox if it is blocked.

Official minutes, budgets

Islesworth residents may request official minutes and budgets at any time. Please contact the property manager (see Contact Info page).
