Boundaries
The Murano subdivision planted landscaping and ran irrigation lines
along Sunset Trail, but the plants and pipes are on Islesworth property.
Also, a small portion of the Murano sidewalk is on our property. These
items put us at risk of liability if there's an accident. Board president
Dennis Rohan is working with the county to determine the proper placement
of the landscaping and other items regarding the property line.
Regarding the boundary with Hidden Oaks Middle School, The Martin
County School Board had not yet responded to the landscaping proposal
presented by Islesworth. A school district contractor had torn out the
landscape buffer when re-doing the fence. He said the trees were in the
way, so he told the crew to tear them out. The Islesworth board is trying
to get the landscaping buffer replaced at School Board expense.
Painting
The Islesworth Board is going to be sending letters to residents whose
homes are showing need of painting. Our homes are 10 years old and have
about reached the limit of the original paint job. The Board can require
re-painting based on by-laws that state that homes must be maintained in a
"manner satisfactory to the association."
Insurance
Islesworth was notified by Nationwide Insurance that as of Dec. 31, the
company will no longer insure our homeowners association. Many insurers
are dropping HOAs. The Board accepted a bid from Stuart Insurance, but it
did not cover the fences. Again, most insurers no longer will cover
fencing because of the widespread damage and replacement following the
hurricanes. However, the Board was going to find out if we could get a
rider to cover the fences.
