Property manager's report
The new property manager,
Don Lifland of Capital Realty Advisors Inc., has reported street light outages
to FPL. It likely will take about a month for FPL to make repairs to the
four burned-out or flickering lights reported (one on Captiva, one on
Marco, and two on Estella).
Eighteen letters have been sent out regarding
violations of covenants.
Residents should be aware that replacement is required
for trees lost in the hurricanes. Islesworth is not requiring
tree-for-tree or bush-for-bush replacement, but all repairs should include
a combination of palm trees, native trees, bushes and shrubs to restore
landscaping. Letters will be sent to remind residents who have notable
tree or shrub loss.
Landscape report
The landscape architect presented plans for an enhancement along Berry
Avenue, but a lower bid was provided by our landscape company, Kicking
Grass. The board approved the work to be done by Kicking Grass, giving the
go-ahead for landscaping along the fence and entrance to Islesworth at
Berry Avenue.
Kicking Grass will be asked to submit bids for the rest of the areas
around the Islesworth perimeter as outlined at the October
2005 meeting.
The front wall along Martin Highway will be pressure cleaned, likely
this week, with painting to follow in a week or two. A resident of
Islesworth will be doing the painting at cost.
Hurricane shutter policy
Many homeowners associations have been updating their policies
regarding hurricane shutters, and Islesworth has followed suit. The board
approved a hurricane shutter policy as follows:
- Hurricane shutters may be put up or closed when Martin County is in
the five-day cone of probability.
- The shutters must be taken down within three weeks after a
hurricane.
- During hurricane season (June 1-November 30) residents who are going
out of town may leave their hurricane shutters on their homes for 14
consecutive days.
Street signs
The property manager proposed replacing the metal street sign posts
with wooden 6x6 posts. The maintenance crew from Capital Realty Advisors
will do the work if Islesworth pays for the materials. The board approved
the proposal.
Parking problems
Residents are reminded that no parking is allowed on sidewalks or
lawns. A problem with people parking in the cul-de-sacs also has arisen.
People are parking opposite one another, making the street impassable for
emergency vehicles.
The board is checking on the policies in other communities and will
address parking rules for Islesworth at the next meeting, March 13.
Official minutes, budgets
Islesworth residents may request official minutes and budgets at any
time. Please contact the property manager (see Contact
