Management/President's report
The property manager has sent out 19 letters to homeowners with
violations regarding roofing work. Many had to do with patches of shingles
that did not match the rest of the roof. Letters also were sent out for
violations regarding basketball hoops and hurricane shutters.
The property manager, Jakab Management, will not be renewing its
contract with Islesworth for the coming year. Jakab has accepted an offer
with another community. Islesworth once again will be seeking new
management.
The Landscaping Committee was scheduled to meet Dec. 15 to go over the
landscape architect's plans presented at the Oct.
10 meeting.
The next meeting is the annual members meeting, to elect the Board of
Directors for 2006. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 at Palm City
Presbyterian Church, 2700 Martin Highway (across the street from
Islesworth and Hidden Oaks Middle School).
Drainage discussion
The board addressed questions about the slow drainage following heavy
rainstorms just before Thanksgiving. The area received 10 inches of rain
in 22 hours, in addition to heavy rain prior to that. The rain affected
the entire surrounding area. High Meadow Avenue was closed for 24 hours.
Martin Downs uses a gravity system to drain water -- there are no
pumps. The system did what it is supposed to do, the board said. The roads
are meant to hold water until the lakes go down.
One unusual situation was that a lot of water did flow into Islesworth
through the back of Hidden Oaks Middle School. Board President Dennis
Rohan was going to meet with the School Board to find out if there is a
problem.
