Board leadership changes
Residents in attendance at the Jan. 27 meeting elected a new
Board of Directors for the coming year. The ballot consisted of the
following nominees:
Karl Bach
Tom Craft
Scott Duckson
Steven Erlanger
Robert Graves
Phil Jacobus
Jen Jeransky
Brian Phoebus
Rhea Slinger
Scott Spagnardo
Susan Strohmeier
Each household received one ballot and could vote for up
to five people. The leading vote-getters were Robert Graves, Phil Jacobus,
Tom Craft and Scott Duckson. There was a tie for the No. 5 spot
between Steve Erlanger and Jen Jeransky. Steve withdrew from consideration,
leaving the fifth spot on the board to Jen.
Following the elections, the board members met to
appoint officers among themselves:
-
Scott Duckson was appointed as president.
He had served as vice president on last year's Board of
Directors.
-
Robert Graves, another returning board
member, will remain in his position as treasurer.
-
Jen Jeransky was appointed vice president.
-
Phil Jacobus was appointed secretary.
-
Tom Craft is director-at-large.
The board agreed to keep meeting dates as the second
Monday of each month, so the next regular Board of Directors meeting will
be Feb. 10. A new meeting place must be found, however, because Pastor Jim
Wilson, a former board member who donated the meeting room at First
Assembly of God church, is no longer a resident of Islesworth. Stay tuned
for details.
Prior to the voting, out-going president Dennis Rohan
received a hearty round of applause for the thousands of hours of work he
has donated to helping Islesworth over the past four years. Dennis had
been the president of the Islesworth Board of Directors since turnover
from Pulte in January 1999.
Other business discussed during the meeting was a
reminder from a resident that the county will be holding a public hearing
on March 6 about a land use change for property on Sunset Trail, just west
of Berry Avenue. For details, see the section about "Apartments on
Sunset" on the Palm
City Plans page.
